Adam Monahan is Associate Dean Academic of the Faculty of Science and a Professor of Atmospheric Science in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria, and a member of the Institute for Integrated Energy Systems. He uses physical modelling, statistical analysis, and stochastic dynamical systems to understand variability in the Earth’s atmosphere from an explicitly probabilistic perspective. He is particularly interested in the dynamics of near-surface winds, with application to modelling of surface fluxes and to the meteorology of renewables. He has authored or co-authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications.
