Workshop for elementary school teachers:
1.- We will discuss assessment and its uses, and possible revisions on the tests and procedures.
2.- There will be a session in problem solving using various models, in particular the Bar Model. The Bar Model can be used as a problem solving technique and also a learning aid to to help students develop a deeper understanding of fundamental concepts in mathematics. By using the Bar Model, students are able to construct a pictorial representation of known and unknown quantities and their relationships in a problem, and develop their abilities in problem solving and mathematical thinking.
3.- We will ask teachers who are interested in attending the workshop to let us know which are the mathematical concepts they have difficulty teaching or understanding. The main goal of this part of the workshop is to add resources and ideas for teaching, and to provide deeper understanding of mathematics that would help teachers with their practice.
