In my talk I would like to share:
1. How the mechanics of the cornea plays an important role in quality of image formed on the retina. This section talks about use of photomechanics to determine the stress due to physiological forces in eye and corresponding change in the optical quality of cornea.
2. How finite element simulation is helping us in designing better clinical interventions and optimizing surgery. This section will touch the use of finite element modeling in simulating penetrating keratoplasty and learnings derived out of it.
3. How new imaging capabilities while helping us see things in more details are also posing new challenges to us. This section will cover the development of Adaptive Optics Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope and how it has helped to improve on imaging capabilities. This section will also cover the new challenges that have been identified by the use of this technology.
4. Lastly, I would like to close with the aims and challenges of the rural eye health and the need of technology building in this area. I would like to briefly discuss about the challenge we have picked under the ongoing collaboration between LVPEI, IIT-H, and UBC.
