Math Biology Seminar: Alastair Jamieson-Lane
Topic
Deterministic and Stochastic modelling of the Min system
Speakers
Details
PhD defense practice talk. The Min protein system is critical for correct cell division, and is observed to produce a variety of interesting patterns, both in vitro and in vivo. I explore the behavior of a model of the min system far from the parameter regime where they were originally, and go onto to study the process of "Burst formation", using the techniques of Large Deviation theory to determine the time of burst formation, along with the predicted shape of bursts formed.
