UBC DG MP PDE Seminar: Severin Schraven
Topic
Counting eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators using the landscape function
Speakers
Details
Counting the number of eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators is a crucial task in quantum mechanics.
The typical heuristic from physics is that to leading order this should be given by the phase space volume.
Unfortunately, this can already fail for simple polynomial potentials.
In this talk I will discuss how one can overcome this problem and obtain non-asymptotic bounds for the number of eigenvalues.
This is joint work with S. Bachmann and R. Froese.
