UAlberta-PIMS Mathematics and Statistics Colloquium: Romain Branchereau
Topic
Homology of modular curves and modular forms - from geometry to number theory
Speakers
Details
Modular forms are certain holomorphic functions on the upper half-plane that play a central role in number theory. In this talk, I will explain how to relate such functions to the topology of certain manifolds, showing how geometric ideas can be used to recover arithmetic results. I will mainly focus on the simplest case, where the manifold is a modular curve.
