PIMS Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Manitoba

Jeet Sampat is a PIMS postdoctoral fellow at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, coming from the state of Gujarat in India. He finished his PhD at Washington University in St. Louis under the guidance of Prof. Greg Knese in May 2022. Before moving to Winnipeg to work with Prof. Rob Martin, he completed his first postdoc at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, where he worked with Prof. Orr Moshe Shalit. Broadly speaking, his work entails studying Banach/Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions in several complex variables.

Jeet's PhD thesis was about functions that are cyclic with respect to the shift operator, i.e., functions whose polynomial multiples form a dense subspace in such a function space. On the other hand, his work at the Technion and the University of Manitoba revolves around the theory of noncommutative (nc) functions that are holomorphic in some sense. NC function theory bears a lot of resemblance to the theory of single variable complex analysis. For this reason, Jeet is currently interested in exploring what notions from the single variable theory do or do not extend to NC function theory in general.
