We are excited to introduce Dr. Steven Rayan as the new Site Director for the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Rayan is a full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Saskatchewan and the founding director of the Centre for Quantum Topology and Its Applications (quanTA). Originally established as a PIMS Collaborative Research Group in partnership with the University of Alberta, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Saskatchewan, quanTA has grown into a central hub for quantum research in the Prairies.  Dr. Rayan’s involvement with PIMS extends beyond his research; he was a PIMS-Europe Fellow in 2023 and has supervised or co-supervised four PIMS postdoctoral fellows. Additionally, he has been actively engaged in initiatives such as the PIMS Distinguished Network Colloquia, PIMS VXML, and PIMS Math2PowerIndustry.

Steven’s research areas include algebraic geometry, topology, and representation theory on the "pure" side and quantum theory, quantum materials, and quantum computing on the "applied" side, although his work often involves a blend of these areas and ideas all at once.  We are delighted to welcome Dr. Rayan as our new Site Director!

PIMS extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Chris Soteros, who formerly served as the Site Director for the University of Saskatchewan.
