Call for Nominations: 2026/27 PIMS Network Wide Colloquium
The Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) invites nominations for its 2026–2027 Network-Wide Colloquium Series. This flagship lecture series showcases leading voices in contemporary mathematics, bringing high-profile, internationally recognized speakers to a broad audience across PIMS' 10 member universities.
Colloquia will be held monthly online, throughout the academic year, offering accessible and engaging talks that highlight significant advances and emerging directions across the mathematical sciences.
We welcome nominations of distinguished researchers whose work exemplifies depth, originality, and impact, as well as the ability to communicate ideas to a wide mathematical audience. Please submit nominations to Joshua Zahl (jzahl@math.ubc.ca).
Selection criteria include:
- Scholarly distinction and international standing of the nominee
- Breadth and balance of topics across the series
- Suitability for a broad, colloquium-style presentation
- Contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the mathematical sciences
Nomination package:
- A brief biography or CV (1–2 pages), or a link to a webpage with equivalent information
- (Optional) A statement describing how the nominee contributes to PIMS’ goals of supporting underrepresented groups in mathematics
- (Optional) Comments on the nominee’s ability to deliver an engaging and accessible lecture to a general mathematical audience
