Complex structures on nilpotent almost abelian Lie algebras

Details
The question of which nilpotent Lie algebras admit complex structures is far from being understood. In recent decades, progress has primarily focused on providing algebraic obstructions to the existence of such structures, with classification results being limited to low-dimensional cases.
The aim of this talk is to introduce the key concepts necessary to understand the problem, including the definition of (nilpotent) Lie algebras, the notion of a complex structure on them, etc. Additionally, I will present a recent classification result for nilpotent almost abelian Lie algebras, which was obtained through collaborative work with MarÃa Laura Barberis, Verónica DÃaz, Yamile Godoy, and MarÃa Isabel Hernández.
