PIMS Director Alejandro Adem noted: "This grant represents an important source of support for PIMS researchers in Alberta, complementing our core funding from NSERC. The scientific activities that will take place in Alberta under PIMS sponsorship will be in fields such as number theory, quantum information theory, wavelets, seismic imaging and data mining in public health. Our education activities will impact teachers and students across the province, while our industrial events will help develop collaborative partnerships with the private sector. We are extremely grateful to the Government of Alberta for their generous funding as well as to the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary for their crucial support."
