PIMS Interim Deputy Director Brian Marcus Named a 2018 Fellow of the American Math Society

We are proud to announce that PIMS Interim Deputy Director, Brian Marcus was named to the 2018 class of American Math Society fellows.

He was recognized for his contributions to dynamical systems, symbolic dynamics, applications to data storage problems, and of course, for his service to the field of Mathematical Science.

Professor Marcus spearheaded our largest-ever event this past summer with the Current Trends in Dynamical Systems and the Mathematical Legacy of Rufus Bowen conference, gathering together 200 mathematicians, young and old, from around the globe to celebrate Rufus Bowen's short but powerful career.
