Workshop on Analytic Aspects of L-functions and Applications to Number Theory
Topic
Speakers
Details
Questions about classical L-functions continue to provide a rich source of research problems today. Of particular interest are global properties of these L-functions, such as moments, growth in the critical strip, and distribution of nontrivial zeros, as well as connections to classical problems in the theories of prime numbers and multiplicative functions. In addition, modern computational tools allow for more explicit investigation of, and more robust experimentation on, some of these classical analytic results. This can often lead to results concerning explicit zero free regions, primes in arithmetic progressions, and correlations of zeros. We intend to explore these and related issues at a week-long workshop.

Delegates will be sharing apartments with other delegates of the Number Theory Conference. Delegates should either call to reserve with a roommate already chosen or understand that they might not know the other persons in the suite. Hotel and Conference Services will choose roommates for those that do not already have one chosen based on gender. Each delegate will be required to pay one third of the room rate.
Graduate Student/Postdoctoral Travel Assistance
Partial funding is available for students and postdocs without grants. Please write to Matthew Greenberg (mgreenbe@ucalgary.ca) to apply. A letter of support from a supervisor should accompany each application. Potential participants are also encouraged to pursue complementary local sources of travel support (e.g., Graduate Student Associations, adviser's research grant, etc.)
Deadline for funding applications: March 1, 2011.
Survey: Please help PIMS to improve the quality of its events and plan for the future by filling out this quick and painless survey.
